Chef's Night Out

The Providence Journal

Where do chefs go for dinner when not cooking?
George Germon and Johanne Killeen of Al Forno in Providence like Basta! On Broad Street in Cranston, Empire Restaurant on Empire and Washington Streets (the creation of two of their former employees), New Japan on Washington Street, Mike’s Kitchen in the VFW Post, Randall Street, Cranston, and Olga’s Cup and Saucer in Little Compton and on Point Street, Providence.

They also named New Rivers, Neath’s, Legal Seafoods of Warwick, Lucky Garden of North Providence, Ye Olde English Fish and Chips in Woonsocket, and for burgers, Stanley’s in Central Falls.

Germon and Killeen’s picks are among those featured in Chef’s Night Out, a new book by Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page.  The authors asked 100 top chefs around the country to name their favorite places to eat.

Al Forno itself is the choice of some of the top chefs; so is the Back Eddy in Westport, MA.
